A deteriorating production system is subjected to random deterioration from an in-control state to an out-of-control state with a general shift distribution. In order to reduce the defective items, part inspection policy, under which production inspections are performed only at the end of the production run, and full inspection policy are both considered in the literature. Moreover, the former dominates the latter. Since the product produced towards the end of a production cycle are more likely to be defective, it can further economize the inspection costs that they are directly reworked without inspection. In this paper, we propose an extended product inspection policy for a deteriorating production system. Product inspections are performed in the middle of a production cycle, and after the inspection, all products produced until the end of the production run are fully reworked. Based on the model, we show that there exists a production run time and a corresponding unique inspection policy such that the expected total cost per item per cycle is minimized. Finally, numerical examples are provided to illustrate our extended inspection policy, and indicate that such product inspection model will reduce the quality-related cost than part inspection does.  相似文献

By using elementary symmetric functions, this paper presents an explicit representation for the Lagrangian numerical differentiation formula as well as the error estimate for local approximation. And we also point out that the numerical differentiation formula constructed by Li [J.P. Li, General explicit difference formulas for numerical differentiation, J. Comput. Appl. A rapidly changing competitive landscape and dynamic customer expectations require manufacturing firms to seek flexibility in product development. Product concept flexibility (i.e., developing design options) and product prototype flexibility (i.e., creating working models) emerge as effective ways to quickly develop new products that meet competitive challenges and satisfy customer demands. Product concept flexibility enables firms to fully explore various product definitions and ideas. Product prototype flexibility allows firms to gather customers’ feedback and investigate design feasibility. Using data from 273 manufacturing firms, this research tests mediating, moderating, and additive models that relate product concept flexibility, product prototype flexibility, and customer satisfaction. The results indicate that firms with high product concept flexibility are more likely to benefit from prototype flexibility than firms with low product concept flexibility, and that product concept flexibility and product prototype flexibility act independently and additively to predict customer satisfaction.  相似文献

Consider-then-choose models, borne out by empirical literature in marketing and psychology, note that customers follow a two-stage procedure to choose among alternatives. In this paper, we consider the assortment optimization problem of a retailer who manages a category of vertically differentiated products under customers’ consider-then-choose behavior. We characterize some structural results of the optimal assortment and find that the problem can be solved as the shortest path problem. Also, we develop an efficient algorithm to identify an optimal assortment.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The authors' paper in Dempe et al. [Necessary optimality conditions in pessimistic bilevel programming. Optimization. 2014;63:505–533], was the first one to provide detailed optimality conditions for pessimistic bilevel optimization. The results there were based on the concept of the two-level optimal value function introduced and analysed in Dempe et al. [Sensitivity analysis for two-level value functions with applications to bilevel programming. SIAM J. Optim. 22 (2012), 1309–1343], for the case of optimistic bilevel programs. One of the basic assumptions in both of these papers is that the functions involved in the problems are at least continuously differentiable. Motivated by the fact that many real-world applications of optimization involve functions that are non-differentiable at some points of their domain, the main goal of the current paper is to extend the two-level value function approach by deriving new necessary optimality conditions for both optimistic and pessimistic versions in bilevel programming with non-smooth data.  相似文献

采用噻唑蓝(MTT)法、碱性磷酸酶(ALP)比活性测定、油红O染色和茜素红染色及定量分析,研究了不同浓度的Fe3+和Fe2+对原代培养的成骨细胞增殖、分化及矿化功能的影响.结果表明:浓度为1×10-9~1×10-4 mol·L-1的Fe3+和Fe2+促进成骨细胞增殖,但是在较高浓度1×10-3 mol·L-1时,它们则抑制成骨细胞增殖.与成骨细胞作用48 h,浓度为1×10-8~1×10-4 mol·L-1的Fe3+和Fe2+抑制其分化,但在较低的浓度1×10-9 mol·L-1时则对其分化没有影响:进一步延长作用时间为72 h,Fe3+对成骨细胞分化没有影响,除1×10-6mol·L-1浓度的Fe2+促进成骨细胞分化外,其他浓度的Fe2+则抑制其分化;测试浓度下的Fe3+对成骨细胞向脂肪细胞的横向分化表现为抑制或没有影响,而Fe2+的影响则依赖于浓度和作用时间.在1×10-8~1×10-5mol·L-1浓度范围内,Fe3+和Fe2+对矿化结节的影响表现出相反的效应.在较高浓度(1×10-4mol·L-1)下,它们促进矿化节结的形成,而在较低浓度(1×10-9mol·L-1)下,Fe3+抑制矿化节结的形成,Fe2+则没有影响.结果提示:浓度.作用时间和铁离子的价态都是影响Fe3+和Fe2+生物效应(从毒性到活性,从损伤到保护,从上调到下调)转变的关键因素.  相似文献

More and more e-tailers (platforms) are allowing manufacturers direct access to customers. Two common contracts are offered by platforms to manufacturers: the revenue sharing contract where a platform appropriates a portion of the manufacturer’s revenue, and the fixed fee contract where a platform charges a fixed rent for each sale. Using an analytical model, this paper studies the interrelationship between a platform’s contract choice and a manufacturer’s product quality decision. We find that if product quality is exogenously given, the platform will always adopt the revenue sharing contract. If the manufacturer endogenously decides the quality, however, the platform’s contract choice may be changed. This is because the revenue sharing contract, compared to fixed fee, leads to a lower selling price of the manufacturer, whereas the fixed fee contract can motivate a higher quality than does revenue sharing. As a result, a large (small) market heterogeneity induces the platform to adopt the revenue sharing (fixed fee) contract. We also extend the model to several directions, finding that longer product line, manufacturer competition, lower marginal production cost, and higher platform cost all tend to induce the platform to put forward a fixed fee contract; while if quality decision is less flexible than contract decision, the platform is more ready to embrace revenue sharing. Besides, when there are two platforms competing for the same market, they should differentiate their contract choices so as to mitigate competition.  相似文献

The success of human mesenchymal stem cell (hMSC) therapies is largely dependent on the ability to maintain the multipotency of cells and control their differentiation. External biochemical and biophysical cues can readily trigger hMSCs to spontaneously differentiate, thus resulting in a rapid decrease in the multipotent cell population and compromising their regenerative capacity. Herein, we demonstrate that nonfouling hydrogels composed of pure poly(carboxybetaine) (PCB) enable hMSCs to retain their stem‐cell phenotype and multipotency, independent of differentiation‐promoting media, cytoskeletal‐manipulation agents, and the stiffness of the hydrogel matrix. Moreover, encapsulated hMSCs can be specifically induced to differentiate down osteogenic or adipogenic pathways by controlling the content of fouling moieties in the PCB hydrogel. This study examines the critical role of nonspecific interactions in stem‐cell differentiation and highlights the importance of materials chemistry in maintaining stem‐cell multipotency and controlling differentiation.  相似文献

Schistosomiasis is a neglected disease with large geographic distribution worldwide. Among the several different species of this parasite, S. mansoni is the most common and relevant one; its pathogenesis is also known to vary according to the worms' strain. High parasitical virulence is directly related to granulomatous reactions in the host's liver, and might be influenced by one or more molecules involved in a specific metabolic pathway. Therefore, better understanding the metabolic profile of these organisms is necessary, especially for an increased potential of unraveling strain virulence mechanisms and resistance to existing treatments. In this report, MALDI‐MSI and the metabolomic platform were employed to characterize and differentiate two Brazilian S. mansoni strains: males and females from Belo Horizonte (BH) and from Sergipe (SE). By performing direct analysis, it is possible to distinguish the sex of adult worms, as well as identify the spatial distribution of chemical markers. Phospholipids, diacylglycerols and triacylglycerols were located in specific structures of the worms' bodies, such as tegument, suckers, reproductive and digestive systems. Lipid profiles were found to be different both between strains and males or females, giving specific metabolic fingerprints for each group. This indicates that biochemical characterization of adult S. mansoni may help narrowing‐down the investigation of new therapeutic targets according to worm composition, molecule distribution and, therefore, aggressiveness of disease.
